fall from grace

5/5

Last night and tonight we are staying in Alberobello,  which does not mean beautiful tree.
Very pretty place and famous for its Trulli, 'circular structures with conical roofs and domed within, built with local limestone and stacked without using mortar'.  Has anyone out there ever heard of Trulli?  We had not but they were cute little houses in which only the height challenged could possibly live.
 Very pretty however.

We even did some wine tasting in Alborabello, interesting red and/or white. Minute detail about the wine making process which the guide had no idea about and gave us a less than accurate version of what the wine maker was trying to tell us. Doesn't matter.

After the wine tasting, we went on to an optional trip to Ostuni described as having 'stark, white- washed buildings, narrow cobbled streets and arched stairways reminiscent of a North African Medina'.  Very interesting and beautiful...............until.......

This is Gab before......

And then Gab fell and would you believe sprained her ankle.  Again. But this time, the other ankle.

Going down cobbled stairs, being really careful of her weak right ankle,  fell, spraining her left ankle, hitting her head against the limestone wall (slightly less hard than brick) and making a scene.   As usual, Paul 'encouraged' her to get and walk for @#$% sake. She did,  hobbling bravely on the next 200m to the bus despite pain, bruising and probable concussion.
(Please DO NOT tell my mother. While she will be relieved I am not dead, she will still panic. Best not to know)

'Poor, poor pitiful me' -  The night of 'the fall', there was a special dinner for the tour group. After providing ice, support and drugs, Paul went to the dinner while Gab stayed in the hotel room alone. She 'insisted' he go.   And fortunately she did not die of a brain hemorrhage as did Patrick in Offspring. But could have.

  1. Yes, I will ensure I read your posts before showing to mum and dad and letting mum read them. She knows about the ankle but not about your near dearth experience. You still being alive would not have softened the blow.
