Today we travelled with Peter and Jackie to Jackie's family's home town of Monsumano, and then Montechetini, where a famed furnicular takes you to the top of the town for a spectacular view. Or so we are told as the furnicular was closed for siesta (even furniculars need their rest) when we had climbed the considerable distance form the bus station to the furnicular which was uphill of course.
Both towns are very pretty and we are able to catch local buses and trains and test out our Italian.
Peter had an enquiry at a bank regarding converting money. Gab tried to assist in her 'best Italian' only for the bank teller to ask his supervisor for someone who could speak English!! Nurando (that is an Italian word we think for a silly person, look it up).
Monsumano and Montichitini
We later come across people dressed in medieval clothes and it seems a movie is being filmed here. The dead horse now makes more sense and in fact, it is probably not real and neither are the dead boars lying nearby. Interesting.
