8/5
Today we had the option of visiting Syracusa or doing nothing. Paul needed a rest day so we stayed at the hotel. We found a cafe with free wifi and had a great really slow, long lunch and did heaps. They asked us to recommend them on Trip Advisor which we will do once we work out passwords etc.
For your info, if you are ever in Giardini Naxos, the restaurant is Ristorante - Pixxeria da Margherita, via Recanati Baia degli Del. 2. 98030, Giardini Naxos . Tell all your friends.
We also took advantage of the facilities at the hotel. We both swam in the heated indoor pool and had spas. Gab had a massage and Paul had a sauna. All wonderful.
We walked along the main street for miles and miles and a great dinner with another couple.

Aside: the 36 other people on our tour are probably slightly younger than the people on the river cruise. Even so, Gab is the youngest female, not by much, and Paul is the youngest heterosexual on tour. There is a much younger gay couple. Everyone else is late fifties and sixties with a few 70+. Gab is not the most infirm, at least she wasn't before she sprained her ankle. Now she is a real contender with even the oldest people looking out for her and her suspect ankle (s).
